The EZ-Flash Parallel is one of the last slot-1 flashcarts manufactured by the EZ-Flash team for the Nintendo DS since the EZ-Flash V. It supports both DS, unhacked DS(i) and 3DS/2DS systems; the flashcart comes pre-flashed with ntrboot which can be used as of means of recovering from a bricked state or soft-mod the console.

Criticisms

List of criticisms with the EZ-Flash Parallel flashcart.

GPL Violation

The EZP kernel uses a modified build of Yellow Wood Goblin's Wood R4 kernel. Because Wood R4 is closed-source, it means that the team is also violating the GPL, due to the last version being licensed under the GPL which later became open-source. Furthermore, the team does not credit, nor provides a download to the source code that has been modified.

Flashcart Bricks

Prior to kernel v1.06, the game "Casper's Scare School: Spooky Sports Day" can brick the flashcart, due to the game requiring a save patch.[fn 1]

Sleep Mode/Hibernation Issues

It has been reported, that, sleep mode is non-functional when it is used in-game, causing a strobe effect on both screens when the lid is closed.[fn 2] ApacheThunder later discovered an oversight where the IRQ pin on pin 7 is not grounded, and is disconnected on the PCB. It is possible to reconnect this line with basic soldering experience to re-enable the sleep mode functionality.[fn 3] This was not the first flashcart to experience this issue; in-fact, it was a common problem with early R4 clones, such as the R4 SDHC, for example.
