For my final year project, I'm going to create a video game which has support for user created levels using Lua or XML. I'm not too sure what I'm going to use yet, although day by day, I'm definitely leaning towards Lua more and more. It's definitely an ambitious project, but if I pull it off, it's going to be an amazing third year project and will give me a better head start into the industry (seen as user generated content is all the rage at the moment, I could probably make a full game out of my project and then sell copies of it). I'm very excited about the project though. Jeez, I'm such a nerd... lol. | For my final year project, I'm going to create a video game which has support for user created levels using Lua or XML. Introduction
Hi, I'm The Teej. If you're visiting this page you're either a) Mildly Intrested in me b) happened to get lucky on the Random Page or c) really bored. Regardless of how you ended up here, welcome! I plan to fill this page with loads of stuff relating to me, whether it be stuff I like, stuff I own or links to stuff I've done or profiles on other sites such as Digg or Youtube.
Feel free to stay and check it out, yeah?
Intrests
Gaming
Quite obviously, I like gaming (otherwise I wouldn't be here, would I?). Somewhat less obviously, I like Nintendo the most. Now don't jump the gun and call me a fanboy, it's merely a preference. I do like all the consoles though, and shall hopefully own all of the current gen ones. So far it's 360 and Wii, I'm waiting for backwards compatibility on the PS3 to get one. I've got a crap load of PS2 games around and don't fancy having to keep the coffin dodger around just to get my fix of dragon quest, hehe.
Favourite Games
I love Ocarina of Time the most. It's provided so much entertainment for me, even outside the realms of what the creators originally intended. It started out as me loving the game, yet as I searched on the Internet, it appears loads of people have teared the game apart trying to find out :ways to modify it and even add their own content. It's really developed my intrest in games hacking. You could say, in a way, it's sparked my interest in games development in general.
Computers
I like computers. I unfortunately don't get much opportunity to take them apart these days seen as I own a laptop and most PCs come with a warranty. However, I enjoy using them a lot. My current PC kicks a lot of ass, so my interest in PC gaming has returned. I definitely intend on upgrading it every so often instead of waiting until my PC is a dinosaur, heh.
Music
A somewhat more unknown intrest of mine is music. I really love listening to music, moreso metal/heavy metal then anything else. Bands include Killswitch Engage, God Forbid, Hatebreed, Sevendust, Slipknot and Stone Sour. I'd eventually like to learn how to play the guitar. I also really love orchestral music, specifically video game and anime OSTs. You get some orchestral in these OSTs that you won't really find similar else where.
Programming
Nowadays I'm more of a games programmer pretty much exclusively, however I still can pull off desktop programs (although, I only like doing this for myself, I find it tedious when it's to do with an assignment). Currently, I know C++, Java, C# and Visual Basic. Unfortunately I've only learned C++ through games development, so I don't really know how I'd actually do any desktop programmer using C++! Funnily enough, I've never done any games programming (bar Java, sorta) using the other languages. Go figure.
Politics
If I could vote for anybody, it'd be me. No more bullshit about video game violence and Strongbow and Guiness would be a penny down the pub. But, seen as I can't, I don't know. I guess it would either be Lib Dems or Tories, I honestly can't make my mind up.

What I'm doing in life/Where I am going in my life
Currently doing my 2nd year (3rd Uni year) in my Games Development Degree, in second semester. It's going pretty well, too. Got respectable grades (Bs and Cs in modules overall) and really loving what I'm doing there. It's given me hands on experience as to what games development might truly be, and while it's tough, it's great! :D It's definitely calmed my nerves about whether this is the industry I want to be in, anyway. Obviously, going to do 3rd year of the degree and then hopefully get a games development job after that. Yeah yeah, I know, it's a tough industry to break into and all that crap, but if I want it, I'm going to get it!
I'm also broke a lot. Well, when I say a lot, I mean all the time. Hey, the perks of a student.
Jeez, I'm such a nerd... lol.
