Yeah, I think it could definitely do with some reworking, your idea is great, just needs to be prettied up a little (and maybe given a bit more of a structural look). There is a pre-defined table style called "prettytable" or "wikitable" which might be useful, take a look at MediaWiki:Common.css. Any of those parameters can be overwritten in the actual page.
