It does not matter what region the "Virtual Console Channel (.wad)" is. The "Mega Drive" / "Genesis" Wii Channels are set up to work on a Japan, American or Europe / Australian Wii. The setting for what region the WAD is set up for is in the "config" file and can simply be changed for what ever Wii you plan to install the injected WAD onto.
The rom file extension must be in ".bin". File types types ".gen" or ".md" are basically ".bin" files are can be used as well. If the rom file extension is ".smd" or ".mgd", then use this tool to convert the rom into ".bin": http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/383/

- The rom that locks 'Sonic The Hedgehog 3' to 'Sonic & Knuckles' has an issue that the SRAM (save file) won't save correctly in the Wii Emulator. This is because there is no data in the rom header to tell the Wii Emulator that 'Sonic & Knuckles' uses SRAM.
- The SRAM can easily be fixed (more details from this website: http://www.emulationzone.org/projects/s&k/thesis.htm) to work on the Wii Emulator by:
- Opening the rom in a hex editor (I use Hex Workshop: http://www.hexworkshop.com/).
- Go to offset (hex): 1B0
- From offset (hex) 1B0 - 1BC, replace the data with the following: 5241 F820 0020 0001 0020 03FF
- Save the changes to the rom.
- Fix the checksum (use this tool: http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/342/).
