This flashcart for 3DS made by Sky3DS supports firmwares up to 11.17.0-50 and therefore works with 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, New 3DS and New 3DS XL. Homebrew can be booted by either using the ninjhax exploit or custom firmware. It can play 3DS games but is region-locked, but this can be easily bypassed using regionFOUR.

Features List

  • Supports any 3DS firmware up to V11.17.0-50.
  • Plays 3DS ROMs.
  • Support all New3DS/3DSLL, 3DS/XL, 2DS consoles(US,EU,JP).
  • Region-locked (can be bypassed using CFW)
  • Support eShop and online features.
  • Compatible with any MicroSD SDHC/SDXC card, maximum capacity up to 128GB.
  • Sky3DS+ has two orange buttons, both to cycle forwards and backwards between ROMs.
  • Firmware can be upgraded.
  • Has a MicroUSB port (~355 KB/s), which can be used to upgrade the firmware or to transfer data without the need for a microSD adapter.
  • Does not use emuNAND.

Clones

  • This cart is a clone: No.
  • This cart has clone(s): Yes (QQ3DS Pro)

Region Free

  • Region free using smealum's regionthree on firmware <9.4.0 (not with N3DS/XL).
  • Region free using smealum's regionFOUR on firmware 9.0.0-9.8.0 (works on all 3DS models).

Best Practice: Use a fresh SD card. Add 'Cubic Ninja' as the first game on the card, then add the other region game afterwards. Use the regionFOUR exploit, then use the two buttons to cycle through the games.

Using Sky3DS

Switching Games

Use the two orange buttons to cycle forwards/backwards between games on the microSD. After closing a game, Sky3DS+ will save your progress on its internal EEPROM to the microSD card. When choosing another game, at the same time, it will read the save data back onto the EEPROM so that you can finish where you left off.

Backup/Restore Save Data

To backup save data:

  • Insert the microSD card into your Sky3DS+, then connect the Sky3DS+ into your PC with the microUSB cable. The SD card will appear as a removable disk.
  • Open the removable disk with your microSD card mounted, drag-and-drop all files with the (.sav) extension to a safe place on your PC.
  • Right-click on the disk (your SD card), and select 'Eject' from the drop-down list, then safely remove the Sky3DS+ from the cable.

To restore save data:

  • Insert the microSD card into your Sky3DS+, then connect the Sky3DS+ into your PC with the microUSB cable. The SD card will appear as a removable disk.
  • Open the removable disk with your microSD card mounted, drag-and-drop all files with the (.sav) extension to the top-level of your SD card (it should not be in any other folder).
  • Right-click on the disk (your SD card), and select 'Eject' from the drop-down list, then safely remove the Sky3DS+ from the cable.

Updating Firmware

It is recommended that if you are using Sky3DS+ for the first time, you should update the firmware to support the latest games.

Follow the steps accordingly. Be sure not to miss any as they are critical:

  • Download the latest Sky3DS+ firmware here.
  • Extract the "v140.rar" archive - you should end up with a file called "firmware.bin".
  • Insert a formatted microSD card into your PC's SD card reader, it should come up as a removable disk.
  • Copy the firmware file onto the top-level of your SD card (this should be the root, not in any other folder).
  • Once it has finished transferring, right-click on the disk (your SD card), and select 'Eject' from the drop-down list.
  • Safely remove your microSD card from the card reader.
  • Insert your microSD into your Sky3DS+, then connect the Sky3DS+ into your PC with the microUSB cable.
  • A red LED light will stay idle for a fraction of a second, or a few seconds, turn to green, and then begin to flash rapidly. (DO NOT remove the cable while it is updating! You can BRICK your Sky3DS+ Card!)
  • Once it has finished updating, the LED will turn off, meaning that the Sky3DS+ has successfully updated.

Software

No special software is necessary anymore, you can copy-paste just like NDS flashcarts.
